Most of you have probably heard of a show called ICarly. If not, it is about a girl who makes a lot of money doing a show about herself and her friends that she posts on Youtube. While ICarly might be fictional, the concept of what she is doing is not. Each Camera focuse on high quality and best price.
There are some people that can make a living posting on Youtube. There are even more people who make extra money doing so. If you have ever been curious about this, stick around while I review the top 10 best cameras for Youtube in 2016.
1. Flip UltraHD Video Camera – Black, 8 GB, 2 Hours (2nd Generation)
The first thing to notice about this camera is it is not available thru amazon directly. Do your diligence if you are going to buy thru a third party seller in order to cover your own skin. It is a good basic camera that captures up to 2 hours of video on 8 GB of memory. It also supports AA batteries which, even though it comes with rechargeable batteries, it is still worth noting that AA batteries are easy to obtain. All in all, a good option.
2. Flip Ultra Video Camera – Black, 4 GB, 2 Hours (2nd Generation)
This camera is almost identical to the first one; the biggest different being it only has 4 GB of memory. But the price difference is not sufficient to support a downgrade. This is not offered directly by Amazon either so it is not as though you will have any extra security in buying this one. I see no reason to recommend it over the first camera in this list.
3. Flip UltraHD Video Camera – White, 8 GB, 2 Hours (2nd Generation)
This is the same camera as the first one except it is white. As of when this was written, just like the other two listed here: this is not available for sale from Amazon directly. If you want a white one instead of a black one and happen to find this, great. Otherwise there is no difference or benefit to this one.
4. Flip Ultra Video Camera – Blue, 4 GB, 2 Hours (2nd Generation)
This camera is identical to the second camera on this list; with the big difference being that the price difference is good enough to go ahead and buy it if you want to go a cheaper route. The other disadvantage is that it records at 640 x 480. That is pretty much the bottom of the barrel these days when it comes to video recording. But as I previously said, it is cheaper for a reason so if a bargain is what you are looking for, grab this one.
5. Flip Ultra Video Camera – Pink, 4 GB, 2 Hours (2nd Generation)
Here we have the same camera in pink. It is more expensive than the blue but still cheaper than the 8 GB ones on the list. Basically, if its worth the price to you to get it in pink then do so; otherwise get the blue one. It still has the same Flipshare features that all of these cameras do and it requires AA batteries as the rest of them do.
6. Canon PowerShot SX720 HS (Black)
If you are looking for a mid level camera (meaning not a budget one as above but not a thousand dollars either…), take a look at this one. It offers 1080 video and a three inch screen versus the two inch screen that the other cameras have had so far. It has built in wifi and is compatible with Android smartphones and tablets. If you want something a little better than above, but not too expensive; this would be my recommendation. And yes it is thru a third party seller on amazon but for some reason when it is a well known brand I do not worry about that as much.
7. Vivitar 8 MP Digital Camcorder with 4X Digital Zoom Video Camera with 1.8-Inch LCD Screen, Colors and Styles May Vary
If one truly wants a budget camera, this is the one. Even without being on sale it is still drastically cheaper than the others. The microphone and speakers are not the best, but at this price I wouldn’t expect them to be. It requires AAA batteries instead of AA, but fortunately those are easy to obtain as well.
8. Flip MinoHD Video Camera – Black, 4 GB, 1 Hour (1st Generation)
This one is more expensive than the other 4 GB cameras from this brand listed above. There is a reason for it though; this one will record in HD. The flip side is it will only record for an hour instead of two. It weighs about the same as the other cameras at 3.3 oz and everything else is virtually the same. So, it basically depends on what you are looking for.
9. Flip UltraHD Video Camera – Black, 8 GB, 2 Hours (3rd Generation)
This can record up to 2 hours in HD at 720. It is very light at only 4 oz. This is the latest model offered by the Flip brand. It is more expensive than the older versions (if you can even find them..) due to the difference in video quality. So it is up to you to decide what video quality you want and how much you are willing to spend for it.
10. Flip MinoHD Video Camera – Chrome, 4 GB, 1 Hour (1st Generation)
This one is dirt cheap if you are willing to do the Amazon 3rd party thing. It is the same camera as what is listed in 8; the difference is it is chrome colored and not black.
Okay so there are the top 10 best cameras for Youtube in 2016. If you are looking for something very cheap I would recommend either the Vivitar or the last entry on this list because as I said…it is old enough you are going to have to get it thru a 3rd party seller if you are willing. But if you are cheap and willing, that model is going to be cheap because there are two more after it.
What I would recommend the most is the Canon Powershot. It is not that much more expensive than the 3rd generation Flip camera and most importantly it is the only camera on this list that can record 1080 video. As for the rest of the cameras, which one you should choose would depend on your color preferences, how long you want the video to record for and how much you are willing to spend on either count.
